The first weekend in August was spent at the annual Nelson Family Campout. 

WE LOVE THE NFC!!! 

It was held at Warm River Campground.  This would have been my Grandmother's 100 birthday so we all got matching sweatshirts with my Grandpa's brand on them.  Aunt Valene did a great job organizing it this year.  We had an old fashioned fair with games for the kids.  And did "minute to win it" games that were hilarious.  We spent a lot of time floating, eating, playing cards, and this year Tom and Stephanie brought their guitars and we spent some time singing along.    The third annual 5K was held.  Derek came in first but Tom got 4th and he was pushing Jason in the stroller on a bad leg.  Nate ran and Erin and I improved our time by 10 minutes this year.  The NFC is a great legacy in our family and I hope they go on forever.

I have SO many memories at this place.  I  hope we always do.

The next week Nate went to the Order of the Arrow at Little Lemhi while I took the other kids to the cabin.

While at the cabin we picked huckleberries and went on lots of walks to the secret meadow.

On August 23-25 we went to Warm River with Tom and Trudy's family.  We had a blast.  We floated, fished, ate, visited Mesa Falls, and had a great time visiting.  Thanks Tom and Trudy for inviting us.

The skunks were so bad in our campsite that as soon as it got dark they would come out.  They were brave skunks that weren't afraid of us.  Even Jason's "Go away skunks, I don't like you"  didn't work.  Needless to say there was not a lot of campfire singing because we all hid in our trailers. 

Good news:  Earlier bedtimes  Bad News:  We didn't get one smore!

On Monday, August 30 we held our annual "Death of Summer"  party.  We wear black and mourn the passing of summer.  We had a great time with about 60 people showing up.  This year we put together a relay race of things you would do at a day in school.  They had to get dressed in funny clothes, eat cereal while running, carry people as a human bus, walk with books on their head, do recess as a three legged race, and a bit more.  It was really funny.  This is a tradition we plan to do every year.
